The structure and responsibilities of the commissioner form of government in Jefferson County, checks and balances, power of the office, and transparency will be examined during this month's unit meeting. Explore the issues and answer your questions about the practice of hydraulic fracturing (fracking), a method used to release trapped gas and oil from the land. Topics will include:
What is fracking and why and when is it used in Colorado?
What are the potential problems and environmental consequences that may arise from fracking operations?
What operational and design safeguards are being used to avoid these problems?
What are the current rules and regulations regarding fracking?
NOTE: After the panel discussion, there will be a question-and-answer session.
No reservations are required. Doors open at 6:45pm.
