Lakewood City Council has set an April 7, 2026, special election to ask voters whether to repeal updates to Lakewood’s new zoning code approved in October 2025 or to keep the existing Zoning Code. The Zoning Code is the set of rules that determine how property in Lakewood can be used and developed.

This special election will occur by mail ballots only, and the four questions shown below will be the only questions Lakewood voters will see on their April 7 ballots. Only active registered Lakewood voters will receive a ballot in the mail.

Special Election Voter Dates:
  • Jan. 26 – City Council set the April 7 special election.
  • March 16-20 – Special election ballots mailed to active registered Lakewood voters.
  • March 30 – Last day for voters to request a ballot be mailed to them.
  • April 7 – Last day to register to vote and pick up a ballot.
  • April 7 – Election Day. All ballots must be deposited in a ballot drop box by 7 p.m.

  • Green Mountain Recreation Center: 13198 W. Green Mountain Dr.  
  • Jefferson County Public Health: 645 Parfet St.  
  • Lakewood Civic Center: 480 S. Allison Parkway, west side of the South Building.
