MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!

League is about teamwork. We are all volunteer and needs are fluid. To make it work, we need help -- a lot of help. Whether you have a couple of minutes here and there or would like to delve deep over a period of time, we have opportunities for you to join in and help.

Look for topics & actions that interest you and fit into your schedule!

JOIN THE VOTER SERVICE TEAM

Work with a group of impassioned individuals dedicated to protecting and promoting equitable elections by:
  • Providing accurate, unbiased, non-partisan information on ballot issues, candidates and elections; and
  • Encouraging maximum voter participation in Jefferson County.

Help with upcoming candidate forums, ballot pamphlet initiatives, Vote 411, voter registration and education and more.

This is an ongoing opportunity. Through the November election we’ll be hosting weekly check-in meetings on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. We hope to keep these meetings to 30 minutes or less.

BE ON THE LEGISLATIVE ACTION COMMITTEE

LWV watches and seeks to influence Colorado legislation. Are you interested in what laws are being proposed in the CO General Assembly by our state senators and representatives. If, so, please consider joining the Legislative Action Committee (LAC). Committee members are encouraged to follow legislation on issues that are of special interest to you -- affordable housing, health care, voting rights, etc.  The information is reported back to LWV jeffco members and is using to formulate action plans.

The Committee also plans and schedules the annual Meet the Jefferson County Legislators event in late November.
The Colorado Legislature meets from January to May.  The committee will meet approximately once a month via zoom.  A training session is tentatively planned for November or December.

BE IN THE OBSERVER CORPS

Watching what happens at local meetings strengthens democracy. LWV Jeffco wants to have league members at County Commissioner meetings, School Board meetings, City Council meetings (Arvada, Evergreen, Lakewood, Littleton, Wheat Ridge and Westminster).  As much or as little as you can, we want your eyes and ears!  Attend a meeting, either in person or on zoom. Wear your observer badge/name tag or add LWV to your identification. Then, report back what is going on -- especially the topics important to LWV.  Your report should be short, 2-3 sentences.
Please contact coordinator below for Observer Information & Training.
